Marvin G. Kiesow, 71, of Brandon, passed away on July 13, 2007, at the Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Marvin was born on August 16, 1935, in Horicon, the son of August and Lydia (Drews) Kiesow.
He graduated from Horicon High School in 1953, and enlisted in the Marines. On December 3, 1955, he married Nan Jean Jaques in Horicon.
Marvin was engaged in dairy farming until 1994 whe he retired and moved into the Village of Brandon. Beginning in 1969, Marvin served as a 4-H leader with Weeping Willow 4-H Club, a position he held until his death. As a 4-H leader, he was a member of the Fond du Lac County Volunteer Force and served on the District and State Councils. In October of 1986, he was recognized for his outstanding leadership to 4-H and in 2005, Marvin and his wife were honored to receive the "Cheers for Volunteers" Outstanding Agency Volunteer Award.
Marvin proudly participated in The Rural Leadership Program where he was involved in numerous seminars across the country, including a trip to China in 1989.
He was a long-standing member of St Stephen's Lutheran Church in Rogersville. Marvin also served as president of the East Ladoga Cemetery Association. He was a past member and officer of the Rising Sun Grange.
In 2002, he received an Associate Degree of Arts and Science from University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac, and in 2005, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Marian College.
Marvin is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Nan Jean of Brandon; his children, Linda (Jim) Arnold of St. Peter, Lori (Tim) Boersma of Wild Rose, Daniel (Kris) Kiesow of Brandon and David (Barb) Kiesow of Forest Lake, Minn. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael (Jackie) Lichtenwald, Wendy Lichtenwald, Braden Hein, Ethan Arnold, Seth, Faith, Charis, Bethany, Manasseh, Gabriel and Jonathan Boersma, Nathan and Lindsay Kiesow, and Nicholas, Taylor and Carly Kiesow; and his great-grandchildren, Kylie and Conner Lichtenwald. In addition, he is survived by his brothers; Norman (June) of Horicon, Orville (Pearl) of Florida, Reinhardt of Horicon, and Donald Kiesow of Florida; his sister, Lorraine Byington of Madison; along with many nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Earl and Lillian Jaques; his grandson, Bodaniel Boersm; his son-in-law, Joseph Hein; his brother, Arthur Kiesow; his sister-in-law, Evy Kiesow; his brother-in-law, Richard Byington; and his nephew, Norman Kiesow, Jr.
Services: A celebration of Marvin's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, N5680 Towne Road, Rodgersville. The Rev. Kimberly Stowell will officiate. Interment will follow in Wedges Prairie Cemetery, with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 210.
Visitation: Marvin's family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2007, at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 W. Main Street, Waupun, and again on Tuesday, July 17, at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund is being established in Marvin's name.
